Although John Rodwell Ltd had for many years been involved in the sales and service of air compressors it was decided that in view of the specialist nature of this business further expansion could best be achieved by creating a separate specialist company.
Accordingly in 1971 Rodwell-Bayne Ltd was formed under the stewardship of Vic Bayne, previously a manager with Ingersoll-Rand.
It was no surprise therefore that Rodwell-Bayne Ltd became a main distributor for Ingersoll-Rand's range of industrial air compressors and pneumatic tools.
In spite of a very competitive business environment the company prospered winning new customers and contracts in the Petro-Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Telecommunications industries.
During the 1980's and 1990's using the depth of engineering knowledge within the Rodwell Engineering Group the company also became known for its expertise in sophisticated compressed air installations in the aerospace industry. During this period the company developed an export business designing, supplying and installing compressed air systems in the high speed rail transit business, especially in the Far East.
