A full-pledged material processing machine on a laboratory bench or in a fume cupboard! That is what DSM Research set out to provide with this unique laboratory compounder. The machine is a triple upscale of our successful 5 ml micro-compounder and meets the need for batch processing up to 15 ml of material. Where in the past, testing and evaluating of new materials or additives was not possible because not enough of the new material was available or the additives were too expensive. Now this micro-compounder offers solutions to all these problems. Even more when it is used in combination with our laboratory injection moulding machine. The core of this laboratory compounder is formed by a divisible fluid tight mixing compartment containing two detachable,conical mixing screws. Both the screws and the housing are specially treated to minimise wear and to make them chemicals resistant.The main drive is continually digitally variable and allows for torque measurement. The processing temperature can be adjusted in 2x3 separately controlled heating zones and the mixing time can be varied via recirculation of the melt. Mixing and dispersion are superb preventing agglomeration. Other standard features are air and water cooling, N2 purge, integrated touch screen control, axial force measurement (determination of viscosity), temperature measurement in the melt and the possibility to connect the machine to a PC for software control of the parameters and for data acquisition (RS-232 port) Control-and acquisition software are available on request.
