This is an inexpensive means of isolating your microscope scanner from building vibrations, interior acoustical noise, and the thermal drift in the probe’s position caused by air drafts. Isolation is achieved by placing the microscope on top of a heavy mass supported by soft springs within a closed chamber. The interior walls of the chamber are covered by acoustic dampening foam. The isolation achieved is sufficient to suppress normal environment noise at frequenies above 1Hz. This option is highly recommended for all SPM instruments.
