PALO ALTO, Calif., July 18, 2005 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that BAE Systems has selected Agilent’s Advanced Design System (ADS) electronic design automation software to help its design team innovate solutions for defence electronics, systems, civil and commercial applications.

After performing EDA software benchmarking, BAE Systems chose Agilent’s ADS for its superior system-to-circuit design flow capabilities, statistical analysis capabilities and product scalability to match the company’s current budget, with the option to add more advanced capabilities in the future.

Statistical analysis is an important part of the design process, according to project leaders at BAE Systems, because the design group needs to calculate yield and success rates for both systems and subsystems. The group determined that the ADS statistical analysis capabilities were best able to provide fast and accurate yield and pass/fail data for their designs.

“Our customers need to reduce their development costs without an excessive investment in EDA software,” said Neil Martin, marketing and services manager with Agilent’s EEsof EDA division. “It’s good to know that ADS has met this customer’s current technical and budgetary needs, and that we can provide support and design expertise to help them succeed.”

Agilent ADS offers a complete set of system and circuit simulation technology and instrument links for RF and microwave circuit and system design in a single, integrated flow. Its complete set of simulation technologies, ranging from frequency- and time-domain circuit simulation to electromagnetic field simulation, allows designers to fully characterize and optimize designs, from RF/microwave modules to integrated MMICs for communications and aerospace/defence applications.
