The Protein Crystallisation workstation from Tecan Europe is a highly flexible, scalable platform based on the Freedom EVO robotic liquid handling system that can be configured for semi and complete automation of protein crystallisation methods. It enables efficient screening of large numbers of potential crystallisation conditions with very small protein sample volumes.

Optimised protocols for creation of custom buffer matrices support the user during preparation of the screens. The workstation automates plate assembly and replication, transfer of proteins, buffers, detergents and other additives from tubes, vials, or microplates to crystallography plates. In addition the workstation automates plate sealing, incubation and image acquisition and analysis. The flexible 8-tip liquid handling arm can access both single vials and multiple adjacent vessels. Individual liquid level detection controls carryover and improves precision. The system automates complete set-up of hanging drop, sitting drop and oil immersion screens increasing both productivity and analytical precision.

The Protein Crystallisation Workstation is supplied with CrysScreen - an intuitive new software package that mimics a crystallographers experimental approach and translates it into robotics commands. With CryScreen set-up of efficient screening layouts is now both rapid and simple.
