The technique of measuring at imposed speed has its limits when it's necessary to measure the consistency of a product at rest. It's impossible to take a measurement at null speed. Many products at rest have a smooth structure while others have a thixotropic behaviour (evolution of the viscosity in the course of time). These products require a more thorough analysis of their visco-elastic behaviour. Whereas the technique of measuring at imposed speed applies a constant speed and measures the applied pressure, the more sophisticated measuring technique at imposed pressure applies a constant pressure and measures the shearing rate. Very low pressure can be imposed, which allows the measurement of consistency of a product at rest.
The rheometers R/S can work at imposed speed or at imposed constraint, thus allowing the rheological characterisation of the viscous or viscoelastic products.
.Revolution speed (0.01 to 800 rpm). .Memory : up to 10 programmes and 4 800 measurements. .Displays viscosity, rotation speed, % couple, constraint, shear and temperature. .In option : analysis software RHEO 2000 with math models (Newton, Bingham, Casson ...), calculation of average viscosities, thixotropic surfaces and flow thresholds.
