Cedip Infrared Systems (Croissy-Beaubourg, France), a leading global supplier of high performance infrared imaging cameras and systems, has announced the acquisition of PolyTech AB (Stockholm, Sweden) - a manufacturer of gyro-stabilised airborne platforms.
The acquisition, details of which were not revealed, marks a further important move for Cedip in their development of innovative IR imaging solutions for military and civilian surveillance markets. Recently Cedip launched, to considerable acclaim, PHAROS - a high-resolution multi-sensor platform specifically designed for short to medium range day/night surveillance applications.
Asked about the acquisition - Pierre Potet (President, Cedip Infrared Systems) commented 'the purchase of Polytech was attractive because of the market synergy between our companies, their excellent product portfolio and the opportunity that it presents us to establish a subsidiary to provide a high level of local service support to our Scandinavian customers'. He added ' Polytech will continue to provide platforms for OEM's, system integrators and to customers requiring turrets without instrumentation or using other brands of cameras'.
Founded in 1990, PolyTech AB has established a strong international reputation as a specialist designer and manufacturer of gyro-stabilised balls and turrets. Intended to be installed under helicopters, aircraft and pilotless drones, these platforms carry various sensors and measurement equipment (such as cameras and infrared measurement systems) that can be used for observation and monitoring in a range of military and civilian applications.
Founded in 1989 Cedip Infrared Systems (www.cedip-infrared.com) is today recognised as a leading global supplier of Infrared Imaging solutions for industrial, R&D, Defence & Surveillance applications. The company offers a range of high-performance infrared imaging cameras and systems incorporating the latest technology in optics, infrared focal plane array detectors, electronic hardware and software. In 2004, Cedip achieved its fourth consecutive year of double-digit growth in revenue, with export sales accounting for 70% of turnover.
