For the production of pharmaceuticals, micro-systems and components, an exact control of ambient parameters in the production environment is usually required. Apart from the cleanroom's air temperature and humidity, the particle density of the air is kept at a controlled level because a single dirt particle can render a micro-structure component unusable, or destroy a pharmaceutical product.
Apart from the production facilities, conveyor technology must operate in this environment without interruptions, without turning into a source of disturbance. Special components and materials are chosen for the production of the conveyor technology.
Several particle cleanliness classes for air in cleanrooms and clean areas exist; they are classified as ISO classes 1 through 9, with different requirements regarding number density and size of particles. The most restrictive ISO class, 1, may only contain 10 particles of maximum 0.1 µm and 2 particles of maximum 0.2 µm size per cubic meter of air.
As comparison: A cubic meter of normal ambient air usually contains anywhere between 1 to 5 million particles.
TRAPO AG can supply references in cleanrooms of ISO class 1, as is required for the production of microchips.
In addition, systems for the pharmaceutical industry including robot technology were successfully installed in cleanrooms of ISO class 3 (1000 particles per cubic meter of air).
