The CLSI modules allow bidirectional transmission of numerical data (measurements, images...) without electric connection, between two immersed units fitted with an asynchronous serial link. The CLSI can be used down to a depth of 6000m. The principle of the CLSI is used for the design of messengers : data transport vector between the sea floor and the surface, then transfer to the shore via Argos satellite communication.
- PRINCIPLE : The CLSI Master module is connected to the electronic unit which initiates data transmission. The CLSI Slave module is connected to the other unit and has a very low consumption in standby mode. From this standby mode, the CLSI Slave module switches to active mode : - when the CLSI Master module emits data, - when the AWAKING input of the CLSI Slave module is activated.
- CONNECTION CHARACTERISTICS : Transmission speed : from 300 to 57,600 bauds . Type : full duplex. No protocol : This system allows total transmission of emitted bytes, without echo. Maximum transmission distance between CLSI Master module and CLSI Slave (power supply from +12V to +24V) : 4mm, when modules are aligned, 1mm, with a misalignment of +/-3mm between modules. No rotation indexing of the modules is necessary.
- MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS : CLSI modules are conditioned within watertight cylindrical containers, with the active transmission part at one end and the fixed connector at the other end. The CLSI Master and Slave modules differ solely through their connector type.
Storage temperature : -20°C to +50°C Operating temperature : -2°C to +50°C Max Pressure : 624 bars (6000m). Material : Titanium (or hard anodised aluminium for small series) and Plastic Dimensions : External diameter 28mm, overall length 178mm. Connector type : SUBCONN Micro Material : Brass and Neoprene (standard) Master : 4 pin, male. Slave : 5 pin, male.
