In 1998 we entered into a development agreement with the Eastman Kodak Health Imaging Division for the design, development and prototype manufacture of the optical assembly for their CR800 and CR900 series of Computed Radiography systems. These devices are used to process magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound images by scanning the storage phosphor plate on which they are recorded and producing a digital image. The processed image can then be evaluated visually, or stored in a digital format. The design for the optical bench was approved and prototype fabrication completed within 16 weeks of program conception. Shortly thereafter we were able to ramp up to volume production and have produced over 3,300 units during the life of this program. As proof of Kodak’s satisfaction with ELCAN’s performance on this program, when Kodak was awarded the Medical Design Excellence Award for their Product line in 2001 they not only shared this award with ELCAN but also named us their Supplier of the Year at their annual Breakthrough Ideas Eventv
