Cryo preparation techniques for Scanning Electron Microscopy have become essential for the observation of wet or "beam sensitive" samples. Using these techniques removes the need for conventional preparation methods, such as critical point drying or freeze drying and allows observation of the sample in its natural hydrated state. Cryo SEM is also a very rapid process, typically only a few minutes.

The PP2000 series is the result of many years experience of cryo techniques and vacuum and coating technologies. The instrumentation is logical, easy to understand, simple to use and maintain and will give high quality results from a wide range of samples.

A dedicated system....
The PP2000 is a dedicated Cryo preparation system to fit most SEM´s. Dedicated systems offer many advantages including ease of sample handling, reduced handling operations, "safe" operation and improved results.

The standard PolarPrep PP2000 system utilises a single rotary pump to evacuate the preparation chamber and sample transfer air-lock. To achieve the lowest levels of contamination and vacuum compatibility required by modern Field Emission SEM, the PolarPrep PP2000T is fitted with a purpose built turbomolecular pumping system to ensure clean, vibration free operation.
