DEA Global eXtra – the solution for dimensional inspection of auto body components on the shopfloor

After introducing in 2003 the two Global models with 1500x1400 mm and 2000x1500 mm section, DEA starts the new year presenting Global eXtra - a brand-new model of its line of bridge-type CMMs especially designed for measuring mid to large-sized automotive components in a shop environment.

Along with the unique Slant Bridge technology, Global eXtra is also characterized by:

- the lower monolithic steel work table – to better suit part transfer systems used in the workshop. The table is isostatic and does not require dedicated foundations;
- the wide section vertical ram made of sintered silicon carbide – a material that ensures better rigidity at the same section, and better thermal behaviour as compared to traditional materials;
- stable temperature of the table by means of forced air circulation
- bellows for protecting guideways on the X and Y axis.

The four models available offer measuring ranges from 3300 x 2000 x 1500 mm to 4000 x 2000 x 1800 mm, with a larger daylight to make the use of fixturing systems easier, like for instance the exclusive DEA FIVE U-nique system.

Thanks to the ACTIV® structural thermal compensation system (Adaptive Compensation of Thermally Induced Variations, DEA exclusive patent), operating temperature may vary from 15 to 30 °C, with volumetric accuracy to ISO 10360-2 starting from 12 + 18 L/1000 µm.

Machine movements are detected on all axes by AURODUR optical scales, featuring a high resolution and certified coefficient of thermal expansion.

Like the entire GLOBAL Image line, these measuring machines make use of the multisensor technology allowing to employ single point electronic probes as well as laser analogic heads for continuous scanning operations in the same measurement cycle.

For car body features that are difficult to be accessed, these GLOBAL, may be equipped with the exclusive DEA CW43L continuous wrist allowing the use of extensions up to 570 mm.

The system is supplied with PC-DMIS, the measurement software distributed by DEA on all its CMMs. PC-DMIS makes use of CAD-based interactive graphic interfaces and supports the creation of in-line and off-line measuring programs, complete with graphic part models, measurement path simulations and graphic representation of results.
