Disk lubrication is the manufacturing step that immediately follows vacuum deposition. During lubrication, a microscopic layer of lubricant is applied to the disk's surface to improve durability and reduce surface friction between the disk and the read/write head assemblyIntevac's system allows manufacturers to uniformly lubricate disks in a temperature controlled, low vibration, contamination-free environment while minimizing solvent loss.
