The DVI-1000 system extends to 1000 meters (3280 feet) the distance permitted for the placement of a digital monitor or projector away from the controlling computer without loss of resolution. Traditional copper cables are limited to 3 meters (9.84 feet). Each DVI-1000 system consists of a transmitter and a receiver connected by a single multi-mode fiber.
The DVI-1000 receiver includes an AC/DC power converter while the transmitting unit is powered by the video card of the computer sending the signal.
