The DOPPLER WIND LIDAR system is based on the Rayleigh backscattering of a 532 nm Nd:YAG laser pulse with the aerosols and molecules of the atmosphere. The emitted laser pulse is backscattered by the atmosphe re to a receiver as a plane scanning mirror and a parabolic mirror. The light is spectrally analysed by interference filter connected to a photomultiplier tube (PMT). The received lidar signal after amplification and digitisation is fed to a portable personal computer (PC) for further analysis and visualization. A second channel is added for low altitude. It is also possible to add some options for extend the capacity of the instrument with some options such as a Fabry Perot interferometer for daylight measurement.
