EasyCyte benchtop microcytometry system

Guava Technologies have announced two new case studies that demonstrate the considerable benefits of its EasyCyte benchtop microcytometry system in performing mouse immunophenotyping experiments.

For scientists in drug discovery, pharmacology and toxicological research, undertaking mouse immunophenotyping studies using traditional flow cytometry techniques has proven expensive in terms of reagents, animals, trained staff and facilities.

Guava EasyCyte systems, are integrated, fully optimised, micro-capillary cytometry systems with embedded absolute cell counting capability. Compact in design the flexible five-parameter systems only require a few microlitres of sample - saving precious and expensive cells, reagents and compounds.

Data from the two case studies 'Profiling animals for use in a drug study' and 'Monitoring the effect of a drug on rat white blood cell concentration over time' clearly demonstrates the value of micro-volume mouse studies on the Guava Easycyte system. Requiring only 5 microlitres of blood per test the Guava EasyCyte enables the same animal to be used for repeat bleeds and for up to 10 reads to be made from a single drop of blood. Consequently longitudinal animal data can be obtained - with more data points over long periods, the improved quality of mouse immunophenotyping data obtainable using the Guava Easycyte is clearly evident. In conjunction with better data the Guava Easycyte enables clear reduction and refinement of animal usage and considerably reduced costs (reagents, animals, animal facilities).

The Guava EasyCyte is so easy to use that results are typically generated with less than a day's training. The Guava EasyCyte system runs each of Guava's turnkey assays, enabling fast and easy measurements of mouse immunophenotyping, cell counting/viability; GFP expression and viability; apoptosis; cell cycle analysis; antigen detection; cell tracking; and more.

Guava Technologies, Inc., a privately held biotechnology company, is the leading provider of on-demand, easy-to-use single cell analysis systems. Guava Personal Cell Analysis (PCA(TM)) systems, including the Guava PCA, Guava PCA-96 and Guava EasyCyte(TM) systems, are integrated, fully optimised, microcapillary cytometry systems with embedded absolute cell counting capability. Used worldwide by the life sciences, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as clinical testing institutions (outside the United States and Europe), Guava's products have broad applications in scientific research and throughout the drug discovery and lead optimisation process, as well as for cell counting and optimisation of commercial biopharmaceutical production. Guava offers a variety of assays and dedicated software modules for the Guava PCA systems, enhancing the system's overall ease-of-use.
