Enterprise Metrology Solutions™ (EMS) from Hexagon Metrology are a suite of advanced software tools available with PC-DMIS™ measurement and inspection software that provide links between design intent and manufacturing capability.

With Enterprise Metrology Solutions, manufacturers can seamlessly integrate measurement and inspection operations throughout their organization using software modules that extend the functionality of PC-DMIS. These modules, including Inspection Planner™, PC-DMIS Vision™, PC-DMIS NC™, and Web Reporter™, allow a single, unified approach to gathering and analyzing dimensional data.

PC-DMIS Inspection Planner leverages the inherent intelligence of the CAD model through the DIRECT CAD INTERFACE™ feature of PC-DMIS software. With this interface, the EMS Inspection Planner module creates catalogues of inspection features utilizing the native CAD system algorithms and tools, eliminating any translation from the original CAD design intent. Once this inspection plan is created, PC-DMIS automatically develops the appropriate part program.

PC-DMIS Vision provides support for vision measuring devices based on camera and frame grabber technology. With PC-DMIS Vision, CAD and vision systems are seamlessly integrated by linking the CAD view of the part to the actual live view as seen through the camera.

Another EMS module, PC-DMIS NC, provides support for probe-fitted machine tools and offers efficiency in layout, first piece and final inspections.

Data collected from PC-DMIS can be stored centrally in an SQL database for archiving, retrieval, statistical analysis, and graphical reporting. The Web Reporter module allows measured results to be shared throughout a plant, organization, or supply chain via an intranet or Internet utilizing a simple web browser.

PC-DMIS measurement and inspection software offers a fully configurable, intuitive graphic user interface to make it easier for users to tap advanced data gathering and management routines. PC-DMIS is available as PC-DMIS PRO™, PC-DMIS CAD™ and PC-DMIS CAD++™. PC-DMIS PRO is a full-featured metrology software system. PC-DMIS CAD™ adds the ability to import CAD files. PC-DMIS CAD++™ adds a scanning function and the capability to handle thin walled parts, glass and plastics.

PC-DMIS software is installed on all new Hexagon Metrology CMMs including Brown & Sharpe, DEA, Leitz, and C.E. Johansson, and can be installed on existing Hexagon Metrology CMMs. The software has been adapted for easy upgrading as a plug-in module to a wide range of other coordinate measuring machines as well.

PC-DMIS software offers fully supported migration paths to all existing Hexagon Metrology legacy software products. These migration options include translators to effectively move existing part programs into the PC-DMIS environment, as well as text editors and execution engines for the legacy products.
