Finisar to Demonstrate 4 Gb/s CWDM Transceiver at ECOC 2005 in Scotland

Sunnyvale, CA, September 28, 2005 * * * Finisar Corporation (Nasdaq:FNSR), a technology leader and pioneer in gigabit fiber-optic solutions for high-speed data and telecommunication networks, today announced a new 4 gigabit-per-second coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) small form factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver for metropolitan area networks. The Company is demonstrating the 4 Gb/s CWDM SFP at the European Conference and Exposition on Optical Communications (ECOC) being held September 26-28 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Finisar's new 4Gb/s CWDM SFP transceiver is available in eight wavelengths for data links up to 20 kilometers. The transceiver transmits both Gigabit Ethernet and 1x/2x/4x Fibre Channel at temperatures from 0 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius. In addition, the transceiver is RoHS compliant and lead free. It includes Finisar's patented digital diagnostics technology, for real-time monitoring of transceiver and network operating conditions.

The new SFP builds on that innovation and expands our market leading transceiver portfolio in both 4 Gb/s and CWDM transceivers," said Atikem Haile-Mariam, product marketing manager for WDM transceivers at Finisar.
