Flounder for removal of surface-active impurities
An automatically operating, programmed apparatus for removal of surface-active impurities from surfactant solutions in an efficient and controlled way. The purification procedure involves cyclic operation with repeated surface compression and very precise aspiration of the liquid surface. The aspirated material is collected in a separate container and is available for further examination. A computer-controlled magnetic stirrer speeds up the formation of the surfactant film. For a comprehensive discussion of the working principle, see ”Automated High-Performance Purification of Surfactants Solutions: Study of Convective-Enhanced Adsorption”, Lunkenheimer K, Wienskol G, Prosser AJ (2004) Langmuir 20, 5738-5744.
