These cemented polarizers have the widest field angle of any design. The standard form of this polarizer with 2·5:1 length to aperture ratio has a full acceptance cone angle of more than 15° @ 589nm, symmetric about the input axis, whilst the long form with 3:1 ratio has a field angle >26°. Both forms of polarizer produce an extinction ratio of at least 10-5, and the n-butyl methacrylate index matching cement results in a transmission from 350nm to beyond 2·5um.
The polarizers are optically worked to exacting standards and are precision assembled for less than three minutes of arc deviation straight through. The unpolished side faces are covered with a black absorbing paint which limits the cw power to 1W/cm
