Goniometers are high precision angle measurement instruments to measure prism angles in reflection. MOELLER-WEDEL OPTICAL Goniometers are equipped with an additional collimator, that enables to measure prism angles in transmission, too. With the aid of a spectral illumination the goniometer can be upgraded to a goniometer-spectrometer. Goniometer-Spectrometers are used to measure the refractive indices of optical glasses, crystals and fluids. For measurement of the refractive indices of optical glasses and crystals a dispersion prism of the material to be tested is used, for measurement of refractive indices of fluids a special hollow prism is needed.
MOELLER-WEDEL OPTICAL’s Goniometers and Goniometer-Spectrometers are used by well-known glass manufacturers as well as by manufacturers of optical prisms and institutes. For evaluation of measurements MOELLER-WEDEL OPTICAL developed a sophisticated software GONIOWIN, that includes error compensation of environment influence when measuring refractive indices, too.
The Relative Goniometer is a inexpensive alternative to the Goniometer II. With this goniometer the prism angle of the prism under test is compared to a master prism. The achieved accuracy of 2 arcsec with visual autocollimators is sufficient for the most part of the applications. If larger accuracy is required, electronic autocollimators can be used instead of visual ones.
