HUCO Coupling Chosen For Its Micro-Meter Accuracy

It stands to reason that if the purpose of a product is to verify the manufacturing accuracy of others, its components must themselves be high and consistent performers. The excellent positional integrity achieved due to the high torsional stiffness of HUCO’s Hucoflex M membrane coupler therefore made it the natural choice for measurement systems manufacturer, Micro-Vu who design and manufacture a broad range of non-contact measuring machines including automated vision systems, manual video systems and optical comparators. These are used to inspect a wide variety of materials, parts and assemblies from sheet metal and injected plastics to o-rings and PCBs.

HUCO’s Hucoflex M is used on the Micro-Vu Matrix Vision measuring machines designed for the automatic inspection of large parts. The coupling drives a ballscrew that guides the vision system along the inspection bed, maintaining x-y accuracy to within 10µm over 2.35m of travel; repeatability is also 10µm.

HUCO developed its Hucoflex M specifically for applications such as these. The size 41 Hucoflex M was chosen by Micro-Vu for its torsional accuracy of 2710 Nm/rad and ability to accommodate up to 4° of angular misalignment.
