Benefiting from better than lambda/10 surface accuracy, the off-axis mirror design of the new Laser Beam Expander range from Optical Surfaces Ltd. produce no central obscuration, better than lambda/5 wavefront distortion and the highest transmission efficiency.

Using zero expansion glass mirror substrates all Optical Surfaces' Laser Beam expanders provide high operational stability. As standard all mirrors come coated with aluminium and magnesium fluoride proving achromatic performance at any wavelength from the infrared through the visible into the ultraviolet. For applications demanding the highest reflectivity and high damage threshold, ultra-hard laser coatings are available, whilst other coatings supplied include protected silver and gold. For applications requiring operation over a wide temperature range athermalised beam expanders are available as an additional option.

Contained within compact enclosures Optical Surfaces' Laser Beam Expanders include height adjustable feet with fixing holes to permit mounting to any standard optical table. Standard models include exit apertures of 100mm, 150mm and 200mm with 5x, 10x, 15x and 20 x magnification systems, with other magnification beam expanders built upon request. Both horizontal and vertical beam displacements are offered, to customer choice.

With focus and collimation interferometrically pre-set in the factory the only adjustment required is to point the beam expander in the desired direction. Simple alignment aids are provided to help the operating technician achieve coincidence between the laser and beam expander axes. Manufactured under ISO9001-2000 accredited production conditions Optical Surfaces provides a final test interferogram with each Laser beam expander supplied.
