High performance Beam Collimators ..

Available from precison optics manufacturer, Optical Surfaces Ltd (OSL), are a range of tube-mounted Beam Collimators that combine high performance with operational versatility.

Based upon an off-axis paraboloid mirror design the combined optical performance of OSL Beam Collimators is better than lambda/5 p-v at 633nm wavefront in the field centre. As standard, all optics within the Beam Collimators come coated with aluminium and magnesium fluoride, providing achromatic performance at any wavelength from the ultra-violet through the visible into the infrared. Alternative specialised coatings such as gold, silver, and dielectric are also available.

All optics with the Beam Collimators are manufactured using zero expansion glass ceramic to ensure long term stability. Constructed in aluminium tubes with matt black internal walls, the beam collimators can be supplied athermalised to suit a wide range of conditions. All optics within the Beam Collimators come pre-aligned in stress-free mounts.

Each system has an output port datum plane giving a defined distance to the focus. All collimators provide a 20mm field ensuring compatibility with standard black bodies. Customised systems can be supplied with larger field sizes, different output interfaces and platforms. Other options include reticle holders, lamphouses and black bodies.

To facilitate ease of use each of the collimator's three feet is adjustable by +/- 10mm for centre height positioning. Unlike other collimator solutions, the new Optical Surfaces range is transportable from site to site whilst maintaining alignment.

Optical Surfaces facilities are approved to ISO9001:2000 and collimators are supplied with test interferograms and analysis showing wavefront accuracy & measured data including focal length and working distance.
