KAYDON REALI-SLIM ON MARS

For the Mars Explorer Rover vehicle, its designers needed bearings whose performance was literally, out-of-this-world! They had to survive sub-zero temperatures on Mars and withstand the tremendous shock and vibration loads of the probe’s launch phase.

Customised Reali-Slim® bearings have proven equal to the task. These compact bearings combine low weight and space savings with the reliable, precise performance needed to position the Rover’s camera accurately during pan and tilt functions.

The Reali-Slim® standard product programme comprises 7 open and 5 sealed series of bearings ranging in Imperial bore sizes from 1” to 40” and in metric, 20mm to 360mm. Where required, R. A. Rodriguez can also provide preloaded bearings, lubricants, separators and other features to meet the most demanding application requirements.
