The laser sensing technique is used, when backscattering signals in UV, visible and infra red spectral ranges are measured. For laser sounding in infra-red region a highly effective avalanche photo diode is used. Laser radiation, that is reflected from the atmosphere at different distances, carries the information on scattering environment, including aerosols and clouds.
