MANILAB - Laboratory manipulating arm for analysis & manipulating chemical samples - Cybernetix
MANILAB is an anthropomorphic arm devoted to manipulating, analysis and processing chemical samples inside a confined area. Tools and peripherials can be connected to the control system in order to provide global solutions.
MANILAB has with 5 degrees of freedom. Different tools can be connected or disconnected from the arm end effector. The manipulating arm is protected with a soft and removable protection which ensures confinment of : areas with radioactive chemical or bacteriological products and sterile areas that must be completely isolated. The roof suspended position allows to minimise the number of arm modules exposed to environment and to optimize the working area. Motors, position sensors and gear boxes are located outside the confined area. This solution allows easy and quick maintenance without breaking the confinment. Tools changing can be automatically done using robotic functions.The control system includes : an industrial PC, an autonomous axis board (8 ports), DC motor drivers. MANILAB does not include any electronics in the confined area.
Programming doesn’t require any specific qualification. It enables : - programming the arm working cycles, - teaching and learning arm trajectories, - external connections with a network and supervisor. Programming is done via screen and keyboard in interactive graphic language. The task is directly described using standard Grafcet representation. Programming includes : control of arm, peripherial tools and external inputs/outputs. Dedicated libraries included in a tool programming package providing all the required functions to operate the system. Programming can be done off-line without being connected to the robot.
