It has built in flexibility, being easily operated in either multi-mode or single mode, with or without grating tuning and can be delivered as either a horizontally or vertically polarised unit. Sealed, flowing gas or slow flow (gas bleed) operation further enhance the wide range of options available with this magnificent package when used with the Gas Handling System. An optional thermocirculator, the TH1 is also available for higher repetition rate use up to 200Hz.
The untuned version, operating at 10.6 µm, is rated at an output energy of 150 mJ / pulse multi-mode, or 80 mJ / pulse single transverse mode (TEMoo). The nominal pulse width is 50 ns (FWHM).
The grating tuned version operates on more than 60 lines between 9.2 µm and 10.8 µm. Maximum energy is 50 mJ / pulse on the strongest linesThe unit comes with a compact, switched mode, power supply the MTL-PS, housed in a 19" cabinet (3U high). It is capable of delivering up to 1000 J / sec at between 19 and 25 kV and can be located up to 10 m from the laser head. For low command jitter and high reliability the laser firing is controlled by a thyratron. An LCD indicates operator selectable voltage and repetition rate. An innovative arc protection circuit is incorporated into the safety features along with temperature and external safety interlocks
