Matisse™ TS CW tunable single-frequency ring laser
Mountain View, CA – May 23, 2006 – Spectra-Physics, a Division of Newport and a worldwide leader in laser technology, today announced the new Matisse™ TS CW tunable single-frequency ring laser. With an external reference cavity to lock the laser wavelength and spectral bandwidth within 500 kHz, the Matisse TS is an ideal solution for scientific research applications such as high resolution spectroscopy, frequency time standards, Bose-Einstein condensates, atomic cooling, and optical memory and computing research.
“When introduced last year at the Lasers 2005 show in Munich, the Matisse TR set new industry standards for ring laser performance and reliability. With the external reference cavity, our new Matisse TS continues this tradition by offering unmatched specifications with even more precise wavelength and bandwidth stabilization,” said Lee McCrumb, product manager for Spectra-Physics. “For optimal performance in generating single frequency performance, each Matisse TS laser can be powered by a highly reliable Millennia® Pro diode-pumped solid state laser. It can also be used in conjunction with our WaveTrain® CW frequency doubler to extend the tuning range into the ultraviolet wavelength region (the tuning range of the Matisse TS is 700 to 1000 nm and can be doubled by the WaveTrain with an efficiency of >14%). For even better performance, our customers can manage and measure the Matisse’s single frequency output with our SmartTable vibration control systems and our 1931-C family of optical power meters.”
Available as both Ti:Sapphire solid state and dye laser configurations, the Matisse CW ring laser family is a unique source of broadly tunable, very narrow bandwidth radiation. The overall tuning range extends from 550 to 1000 nm. The laser resonator cavity is designed as a ring structure with line-narrowing active elements and operates truly single frequency on one longitudinal cavity mode with a spectral linewidth of less than 500 kHz.
