Micrometer Diascope

A recurring problem with virtually all high-speed digital cameras is the exact back-focus distance between the camera's lens-mount and the sensor's image plane. This condition exists because currently, the camera manufacturers are not required to meet specific industry standards. The Micrometer Diascope solves this problem.
The Diascope is an easy to use instrument that attaches to a camera's lens plate. It contains the following elements: 1) a reticule target 2) an LED light source 3) internal optics and 4) a precise micrometer with measurement accuracy greater than 0.001" or 0.025mm.
The Diascope currently adapts to: DRS, Redlake, Vision Research (Phantom), Weinberger cameras plus Nikon-F and C-Mounts. PL and other mounts will follow as needed.
Turn ON the camera and Diascope and observe the Siemen's Star target on a high-resolution monitor. Set the Micrometer to its zero position and rotate the barrel until the target's image is in sharp focus. The numeric value on the micrometer is the exact amount of precision shims necessary to achieve precise infinity focus on each camera. Install the shims between the lens plate and the camera body. Note that an accessory kit of precision stainless steel shims is available to fit each of the above cameras.
Thereafter, when a camera back-focus calibration is performed, the focusing scale on all lenses will be accurate and the image will always reach infinity focus.
