Germany -- Berlin, Lumics a manufacturer of laser modules and laser chips introduces the LU0546M005 green laser module with up to 5mW output power from a fiber.

The very small sized LU0546M005 laser module generates up to 5mW optical power at at 546nm wavelength from a single mode fiber at typ. 1 W total power consumption. The device offers a high optical stability of less than 2% with a beam quality of 1.1 (M2). The spectral linewidth is less than 1nm.

The target applications include analytical, medical and imaging applications. The new generation of high power modules allows a small size system design with enhanced performance.

Lumics introduces this laser in a standardized cooled 14-pin butterfly package coupled with a encapsulated speciality fiber. The laser footprint is only 30 x 15 mm with a max. height of 8 mm. The fiber length is specified with 0.5m and is terminated with a colimator and filter. The complete module assembly is based on superior telecom laser package technology which comply with high reliability standards. Lumics’ manufacturing plant is ISO 9001 approved for high volume manufacturing.
The maximum laser operating current is specified with typ. 350mA. The forward voltage is specified with max. 1.7V. The threshold current is typically 240mA. The LU0546M005 includes a thermo electric cooler. The performance of the device is based on Lumics propriety chip technology which ensures very high reliability with a breakthrough in laser facet passivation. Product samples are available now.
