Mold Filling Analysis

PRINT
BACK

Simulates the molding process to save time and expense:

Using computer modeling of the part and hot runner, the Synventive Mold Filling Analysis simulates processing conditions prior to molding, enabling you to optimize gate locations and balance. By investing in this analysis upfront, you can modify the design, process and hot runner in software – instead of in production – ensuring that the mold and manifold will be built correctly the first time.

- Filling Analysis:
This part of our service – a pre-requisite to any other analysis – examines the flow of plastic in the cavity until the cavity is filled. Depending upon your objectives, you can view the fill pattern, pressure and temperature distribution, clamp tonnage requirements, weld line and air trap locations, shear stress and shear rate predictions. With these results, you can then determine the optimum gate locations, material, processing window and hot runner design.

- Sequential Filling Analysis:
For sequential valve gating applications, we can simulate the part being filled sequentially – just as if it were in production. You can then modify the sequence as necessary to ensure that each gate opens after the flow front passes, eliminating weld lines and avoiding over-pack.

- Packing Analysis:
The packing analysis profiles the packing phase, ultimately helping reduce volumetric shrinkage and minimizing warpage caused by differentials in shrinkage across the part. You can also use the information provided to pinpoint when the gate(s) will freeze, helping optimize cycle times.

- Cooling Analysis:
This invaluable service helps you design the most efficient cooling line layout, so that your part can cool as quickly and evenly as possible, reducing cycle times and achieving superior part quality. The analysis provides a variety of cooling line results, including pressure drop, coolant flow rate, channel wall temperature and Reynolds number. It also offers cavity results, including surface temperature, freeze time and change in temperature from core to cavity, which will help you determine if the part is being cooled uniformly.

- Warpage Analysis:
You can also identify if your part will warp and if so, the cause: differential shrinkage, differential cooling and/or orientation. Once you have identified the cause, as well as the magnitude of the problem and the direction of warpage, you can correct your processing conditions, part or mold design as required before you begin molding actual parts.

- Web-based Report:
At the completion of the mold filling analysis, we will prepare a comprehensive web-based report with detailed graphics, which you can conveniently view using your Internet browser. The report explains how the analysis was performed, what the graphics depict and offers specific recommendations for modifications that can help you design the optimum mold and part.
