New 20 mW, 405nm diode laser for life sciences

Point Source has released a 20mW, 405 nm fiber-coupled laser as the latest addition to its range of iFLEX-2000™ lasers. The iFLEX-2000™ delivers 20 mW in a pure Gaussian TEM00 collimated beam from a singlemode polarization maintaining fiber.

The laser is highly stable and reliable, whilst operating with extremely low noise and offers the added advantage of an on-board fast TTL and full analogue modulation.

At 20mW, the iFLEX-2000™ is the highest commercially available fiber-coupled output power with the added capability of a detachable plug and play fiber for ease of installation, upgrade and field replacement.

This new power level opens up a variety of new application areas particularly when using wide field illumination techniques such as single molecule detection, SPR and TIRF. For those using Laser Scanning Microscopes, the 405 nm laser opens up areas of FRAP whilst in Flow-Cytometry the power levels increase resolution levels and the ability to use lower molecular concentration.
