Cincinnati, Ohio (November 10, 2004)- Advantech Corporation, Industrial Automation Group is proud to introduce a next-generation Pentium® 4 full-sized single board computer with 800/533/400MHz FSB (Front Side Bus) - the PCA-6187 series. The PCA-6187 is designed with Intel® 865G chipset that supports the most advanced Intel® Pentium® 4 processor with HT (Hyper-Threading) Technology. Built-in Hyper-Threading Technology enables a single physical processor to process two threads simultaneously that the performance and utilization of processor resource will both increase. The PCA-6187 also provides four DIMMs for dual channel DDR400 SDRAM, 2 Serial ATA ports and onboard Ultra160 SCSI interface for high performance applications.

Based on Intel® 865G architecture, the PCA-6187 supports Intel's® socket 478 Pentium® 4 and Celeron® processor up to 3.2/2.2 GHz. The dual channel DDR 400/333/266 SDRAM interface up to 4GB provides bottleneck free memory bandwidth up to 6.4GB/s. The unique CSA (Communications Streaming Architecture) features a Dedicated Network Bus (DNB) interface where the bandwidth of 266MB/s is twice of the traditional PCI bus. The direct link between Intel® 865G and Intel® 82547 Ethernet controller is specially dedicated for network transmission that is not shared with other devices. The integrated graphic accelerator provides on-board VGA display shared memory up to 64MB. With Intel's® ICH5, the PCA-6187 provides two EIDE interfaces (up to four devices), and features a high performance serial ATA interface (up to 150MB/s) which eases cabling to hard drives in industrial chassis with thin and long cables. Other features include dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, dual channel Ultra 160 SCSI interface, six USB 2.0 ports, AC-97 audio interface and other standard PC functions like two RS-232 serial ports, one enhanced parallel port and floppy disk interface.

Other industrial features such as CMOS data backup which protect data in the CMOS RAM after battery failure and a 256-level watchdog timer which will resets the CPU if a program cannot be executed normally are equipped with PCA-6187. A remote management port allows users to monitor and control the system healthy status remotely through standard SNMP/HTTP protocols when used with Advantech's SNMP-1000 intelligent system manager.
