New ExcelsiorTM Diode-Pumped Solid-State (DPSS) Lasers for Scientific Research Customers
Mountain View, California – January 24, 2006 – Spectra-Physics, A Division of Newport Corporation and a worldwide leader in laser solutions for the scientific research market, today announced the ExcelsiorTM -473 and ExcelsiorTM -532 DPSS lasers for the research community. These new scientific versions of the Excelsior family are CDRH compliant and feature a key switch and safety interlock. They are operated by a stand-alone power supply that accepts input voltages ranging from 110 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz.
“We have enjoyed tremendous success with the OEM versions of our Excelsior product line, and we are excited to offer these low-cost, high performance lasers to our scientific research customers,” said Jürgen Niederhofer, Product Manager for Spectra-Physics. “Our Excelsior-473 and Excelsior-532 are excellent choices for many cutting edge applications including flow cytometry, DNA sequencing, analytical chemistry, confocal microscopy, and many more.”
Spectra-Physics’ innovative Excelsior lasers are a low-cost alternative to power-hungry argon ion lasers and many DPSS lasers. These low power continuous wave (CW) solid-state lasers at 473 or 532 nm are excellent tools for a variety of research applications because they provide superior optical beam quality, exceptionally low optical noise, and high reliability.
Offering the smallest footprint in their class, the Excelsior lasers are stand-alone devices that are easy-to-use and operate. An integrated active light loop guarantees that every Excelsior laser delivers outstanding output power stability over a wide temperature range. Spectra-Physics’ patented intra-cavity doubling technique generates visible light with high conversion efficiency, which results in lower overall power consumption.
The Excelsior-532 line offers a variety of multi-longitudinal mode and single-frequency versions with power levels ranging from 20 to 150 mW. The standard Excelsior-473 laser is offered with 10 mW of output power. Spectra-Physics provides a universal base plate that enables customers to mount the laser onto both English and metric optical tables. Every Excelsior laser is backed by an 18-month, unlimited hour warranty.
