Santa Clara, Calif., August 6, 2004 – The new FieldMate™ laser power meter from Coherent, Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) (Nasdaq: COHR) features an analog needle whose improved response enables more rapid and sensitive adjustments of laser output power. Specifically, the FieldMate employs faster electronics and a sophisticated digital processing algorithm so that its analog needle responds more quickly and with less overshoot than other meters on the market. In addition, FieldMate has a digital display to facilitate precise power readings.
FieldMate is compatible with dozens of Coherent sensors, enabling it to measure lasers with output from 150 nm to 11 µm, with power levels from a few nanowatts to 10 kW, and with beam diameters as large as 200 mm. Built-in wavelength compensation ensures the accuracy of measurements at any wavelength.
The compact FieldMate can be either battery- or AC-powered, making it an ideal tool for field service personnel or general laboratory use. An analog output allows it to drive a strip chart recorder or to function with other data acquisition instruments.
