New Turnkey Cell Toxicity and Mixed Culture assays

Guava Technologies, Inc. have introduced two new turnkey assays for their suite of personal cell analysis systems.

The Guava CellToxicity Assay enables researchers to improve the performance and sensitivity of their cytotoxicity assays with a simple, non-radioactive assay that is as easy to use as population-based methods, but has superior sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility. The Guava CellPaint Assay offers single cell analysis capabilities for mixed cell cultures without the complexity of traditional methods.

The new Guava CellToxicity assay provides sensitive, single-cell analysis that is highly reproducible, minimises assay development time, and is ideal for effector cell assays: cell-mediated cytotoxicity (CMC), antibody-dependent cell mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and natural killer cytotoxicity (NK). The assays use a well-characterised cell tracking dye that is optimised for use on the Guava PCA systems. This dye diffuses freely into cells and is retained within the cell without affecting cellular function. Because the assay is more sensitive, specific and reproducible than population-based tests, assay development time is reduced compared to traditional methods. The Guava CellToxicity assay provides all relevant statistics, including percentage of cells killed, as well as effector and target cell percentages.

Guava's CellPaint Assay allows users to conduct mixed culture assays with the sensitivity of single-cell based methods and the throughput and ease of use of a microplate reader. Using the same fluorescent dye employed by the CellToxicity Assay or user-defined dual colour options, users can easily differentiate cell populations more easily than traditional methods. The result is greatly reduced assay development time and increased laboratory productivity.
