Jena/San Jose, January 25, 2005. At the Photonics West 2005 in San Jose, USA, JENOPTIK Laserdiode GmbH, a subsidiary of JENOPTIK AG in Jena, Germany, presented a new passively cooled fiber-coupled diode laser module JOLD-100-CPXF-4P delivering a significantly higher output power of 100 watts from a single fiber (core diameter 0.4 mm, NA 0.22) than the previews fiber-coupled diode laser modules. The high-power diode lasers from JENOPTIK Laserdiode are renowned on the market for their excellent quality, long lifetime and high reliability.
The new 100-watt fiber-coupled diode laser module is a further development of the 50-watt fiber-coupled module featuring a new integrated technology that permits such high an output power to be obtained. This fiber-coupled diode laser module is a useful extension of the product group of fiber-coupled diode laser modules by JENOPTIK Laserdiode, which so far only comprised devices of 30 watts and 50 watts cw.
The new product was developed with potential applications, such as the pumping of solid-state lasers or direct materials-processing (quasi-simultaneous welding and other applications requiring increased power). As a matter of course, the 100-watt fiber-coupled diode laser module also satisfies the excellent-quality standard of JENOPTIK Laserdiode thus rounding off its range of laser modules.
The start of the series production is scheduled for April 2005. For the time being, the new module will be available at the following wavelengths: 915 nm, 940 nm and 978 nm. 808 nm is presently being qualified. JENOPTIK Laserdiode GmbH develops, manufactures and markets high-power diode lasers. These new laser types offer high efficiency from a very small volume. They are used chiefly as an excitation source for solid state lasers or serve as a direct beam source in medical technology and material processing. Laserdiode GmbH has been part of the JENOPTIK Group since 1993. JENOPTIK Laserdiode GmbH is a subsidiary of JENOPTIK Laser, Optik, Systeme GmbH (www.jenoptik-los.com) in the Photonics division of JENOPTIK AG, Jena. (www.jenoptik.com).
