We are currently being funded by the Joint Technology Office (JTO) and the Air Force to develop improved laser windows for use with next-generation high-power lasers. As part of this research, we are using new glass compositions to develop higher-quality glass for lasers operating over a range of wavelengths in the near- and mid-infrared regions. These multi-year R&D projects, totaling in the millions of dollars, will enable IFS to remain at the forefront of the military optics technology field for years to come. IFS is also conducting innovative research is several other fiber related areas, mainly funded by the DOD. These projects include infrared fibers doped with rare-earth elements for use with high-power lasers and amplifiers for military and industrial applications
