AKAtech SA launches AKAmatrix, its new high performance reader of 2D “Data Matrix” codes. Fully stand-alone, AKAmatrix is a powerful intelligent reader that integrates illumination, image acquisition, processing, decoding and communication into a single compact unit.

Based on a 1024x1024 pixels CMOS intelligent camera, the stand-alone reader achieves up to 125 reading/s, at a travel speed of 12 m/s. Featuring the “direct pixel read-out capability” – the ability to directly access the pixels without having to acquire full frame images –, AKAmatrix can operate both in line-scan and area-scan modes, making it ideal for both high-speed and static applications.

Equipped with advanced localization and reading algorithms, AKAmatrix solves even the most challenging applications, such as reading multiple codes marked on a single part, capture and decode randomly positioned codes on cylindrical or flat surfaces, or read strongly distorted codes. Additionally, when reading codes on metallic parts, glass, and very bright objects, the large dynamic of 120 dB of the sensor ensures a very reliable decoding without suffering from saturation and blooming.

AKAmatrix is offered with a large choice of lighting, optics and heads with different orientations, making it easily adaptable to a wide range of applications. The reader features two serial interfaces RS-232 and RS-485, 8 digital Inputs/Outputs and a SVGA output.

AKAmatrix comes with the ADS software –“Application Development Suite”, a powerful graphical environment designed specifically to create, test and optimize new applications in a couple of minutes, without any programming.

Designed for easy integration into a wide range of applications, AKAmatrix can be used in many industries, including part tracking and traceability in the aerospace, automotive, packaging, pharmaceutical and electronic industries, mail and document handling, and marking inspection.
