New patented series “BOX” of worm gear units by Motive
The new patented “BOX” series of worm gear units is made with die-casting aluminium housing from size 25 up to 90, and in cast iron for the size 110. The housing has been designed with parametric three-dimensional CAD SW supported by programs of analysis of the thermal dissipation capacity and the structural resistance under the effect of working loads. In order to increase the silence, efficiency and duration, the wormshaft is made in case hardened steel and ground machined, while the worm wheel is in shell cast bronze. Before being assembled, the worm wheel is submitted to a running-in working period to improve the surface finishing and hardness. From type 50 and up, 2 taper roller bearings are mounted on the wormshaft, improving the BOX resistance to the axial loads given by the wheel on the shaft or by the mounting position. This characteristic, combined with 2 nilox that guarantee a good lubrication of the shaft taper roller bearings even if the oil doesn’t touch them, permits to the gear unit to be mounted in V5 or V6 positions without any additional intervention For the same reason, the gear unit is equipped with a full set of filler, level and breather plugs, facilitating the management of the stock.
The BOX series will be presented at the Fairs Compomac-Fluidtrans in Milan from the 18 to 21 February 2004 and Mecanelem-Mecatronic in Paris from the 22 to 26 March 2004
