Genevac has announced that the latest version of its popular EZ-2 benchtop evaporator and the new EZ-BIO centrifugal evaporator will take centre stage at BioFine 2005 in Berlin, Germany (13-14th April).

The EZ-BIO system uses the established EZ-2 solvent removal platform in a specially engineered product optimised for the needs of biologists. Solvent removal tasks in biological research commonly involve ethanol, methanol, water and acetonitrile and the EZ-BIO is optimised to remove such solvents. The new system is not encumbered by many of the extra functions associated with complex organic chemistry applications and consequently provides an evaporator tailored to the needs and budget of academic researchers, and in particular molecular biologists. The EZ-BIO offers great value for money in a package that provides as standard pre-programmed methods for evaporation of HPLC fractions and DNA samples as well as Genevac's patented Dri-Pure anti-bumping control. Sample holders are available for Eppendorf tubes, HPLC vials and microtitre plates

Based on stand E17 the company will also be displaying its popular EZ-2 Personal Evaporator system. The EZ-2 now accommodates a wide selection of sample holders enabling evaporation from most common sample container formats including round-bottom flasks up to 500ml, tubes up to 160mm long, custom reaction blocks and shallow or deep-well microplates. To meet the need of the many pharmaceutical companies switching their compound generation programmes from serial chemistry to parallel synthesis, the EZ-2 is also able to take tubes, flasks and vials directly from the synthesis process, eliminating a manual handling step, increasing recoveries and removing the chance of cross contamination.
