Irvine, California – Newport Corporation a worldwide leader in laser and photonic solutions to make, manage, and measure light, today announced the Oriel InstaSpec™ IR CCD, a new spectroscopic TE cooled array that provides the same sensitivity previously only available from LN2 cooled detectors. It delivers superior quantum efficiency between 950 and 1650 nm and is an ideal solution for low light measurements such as Raman and photoluminescence.

“With far superior performance than is available from technologies like InGaAs, PDAs, and traditional CCDs, Newport’s new Oriel InstaSpec IR CCD is a state-of-the-art solution for near infrared spectroscopic measurements,” said Nancy Fernandes, Newport’s Oriel Product Line Manager. “By coupling our new infrared CCD and an InstaSpec UV-VIS system with our triple grating MS260i™, our customers will have the industry’s best performing and most flexible 200 to 1650 nm benchtop spectrometer.”

The Oriel InstaSpec IR CCD will be featured in a live supercontinuum demonstration in Newport’s booth # 1711 at the 2006 CLEO Conference, May 23 to 25, 2006, in the Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach, CA. The display will also include a wide variety of Newport’s laser and photonic solutions to make, manage, and measure light including the company’s industry-leading Mai Tai® ultrafast oscillator and SmartTable-UT.
