Newport introduces 1918-C Handheld Optical Power and Energy Meter
Newport Combines Best-in-Class Performance and Versatility with Portability in its New 1918-C Handheld Optical Power and Energy Meter
Irvine, California - January 16, 2007 -Newport Corporation, a worldwide leader in photonic solutions to Make, Manage and Measure LightSM, today introduced the new 1918-C handheld optical power and energy meter. Newport's new compact 1918-C offers all of the leading-edge performance and advanced features of Newport's popular 1935-C benchtop power and energy meters in a rugged, compact, portable package. "When Newport introduced its 1935-C family of power and energy meters, we set the industry standard for performance. Today, we have continued this tradition, with the unveiling of our new 1918-C handheld instrument, which brings industry-leading benchtop performance to the palm of your hand," said Ron Hartmayer, Newport's Director of Marketing for Photonics Instrumentation, "We believe that this handheld instrument is the best choice to measure optical power and energy from any type of source -- laser, LED, laser diode or broadband light source -- in any application." Newport's 1918-C handheld power and energy meters have a compact and ergonomic design that is ideal for use both in the lab, and out in the field. They feature a full color TFT LCD display with a range of color settings that can be selected by the user to optimize screen visibility when using laser safety goggles. They are capable of power measurements from 1 nW to 6 kW, and of energy measurements from 250 µJ to 75 J, with repetition rates of up to 2 kHz. The 1918-C also features advanced functions such as math, statistics, graphing and charting. It can store 250,000 data points internally, with additional storage available via an external USB memory device. The instrument can be AC or DC powered with its field replaceable, rechargeable batteries lasting eight hours in full blast operation. These new power and energy meters are compatible with all Newport photodiode, thermopile and pyroelectric smart detectors.
