Cedip Infrared Systems (www.cedip-infrared.com) has announced the SILVER 480M -a new state-of-the-art IR cooled camera that provides a complete acquisition and processing system for highly dynamic phenomena and high frequency periodic excitation.

Designed for researchers looking to perform ultra-fast thermographic analysis the SILVER 480M uses its analogue inputs for synchronous acquisition of external sensor signals, that after processing by an advanced 'lock-in' technique, enable highly sensitive and accurate non-destructive evaluation, fatigue testing and stress analysis.

The SILVER 480M is an affordable, advanced IR camera based upon Cedip's proprietary high performance cryogenically cooled staring focal plane array detectors. Incorporating the latest Read Out Integrated Circuit (ROIC) technology the SILVER 480M's 320 x 240 pixels format InSb detector (3-5µm) delivers an outstanding 400 Hz full frame rate while maintaining extraordinary linearity and high sensitivity of typically 20 mK. Built for operational flexibility the SILVER 480M is programmable from 1Hz to 400 Hz in full frame mode, offers a sub-array windowing mode with integration time adjustable in 1µs increments and smart external triggering capability synchronising image capture to even the most transient events.

The SILVER 480M offers true plug & play compatibility with standard computers as well as third party frame grabbers and image processing software. Using either CAMLINK or GigE interfaces the SILVER 480M is able to transmit commands and transfer video images at 40 MHz pixel rate and full 14-bit dynamic range. Comprehensive image analysis software dedicated to thermal measurement comes as standard.

The SILVER 480M is fully compatible with Cedip's industry-leading ALTAIR software allowing acquisition, display and analysis of complex thermographic processes such as welding, machining and microfluidic dynamics. Using Cedip's advanced ALTAIR-Li software the SILVER 480M provides a complete non-destructive testing solution for pulse, phase pulse and lock-in thermography. For stress analysis the SILVER 480M and ALTAIR-Li software allows real time measurement on materials undergoing dynamic loading using the thermoelastic effect.
