UV water disinfection systems are only as good as the effectiveness of the germicidal lamps. With time, even the best UV water treatment system will show a significant degradation in its ability to disinfect water. Germicidal lamp output decreases as the lamp ages and / or becomes dirty through use.
Solar Light's PW254 is specifically designed to continuously monitor UV intensity in a high pressure water disinfection tank (reactor). The detector is designed to reliably interface with the Solar Light LM100 germicidal lamp monitor or your choice of monitor or data acquisition equipment.
Its output is a standard 4-20 mA or 0-5 VDC.
The PW254 germicidal lamp detector continuously and accurately monitors germicidal lamp effectiveness in water disinfection units.
The detector screws into the service port of the water disinfection tank. The screw thread is supplied for 1" FPT. Other NPT and metric sizes are also available.
UVC is the most effective part of the ultraviolet spectrum for germicidal applications. All mercury lamps, with transmissive bulb enclosures, emit considerable UVC. The remaining 5% is distributed between UVB and visible radiation. Medium and high pressure mercury lamps have more UVC than low pressure lamps but a decreased percentage of UVC relative to UVB.
The PW254 is sensitive to UVB as well as UVC. With low pressure mercury lamps, the UVB sensitivity of the PW254 is of little consequence. When higher pressure mercury lamps are used, an accurate UVC reading requires a UVB blind PW254 detector, which is also available.
