Polyphenylsulphone (PPSu) has recently been added to Goodfellow's range of polymer materials. Available from stock in a range of rod sizes from 12.7mm to 40mm diameter, this material is being used in various sectors, including the manufacture of medical devices. Other sizes and forms, including sheet, are available and will be added to the catalog in time.

Polyphenylsulphone (PPSu) is an amorphous, high performance thermoplastic which offers better chemical and impact resistance than either polysulphone or polyetherimide. It offers superior hydrolysis resistance when compared to other amorphous thermoplastics (measured by steam autoclaving cycles to failure). In fact PPSu has virtually unlimited steam sterilizability, outlasting other materials by a factor of 40:1. This factor makes it an excellent choice for medical devices as steam autoclaves are widely used to sterilize these items. PPSu also resists common acids and bases including commercial washing solutions over a broad temperature range.

Industrial applications include sterilization trays, dental and surgical instrument handles, hot water fittings & aircraft cabin interior components.
