Road authorities often do not have enough reliable information about their actual road sign inventory. It requires a great deal of time and resources to update and review these inventories, making it hard to do so on a regular basis. Consequently, there is a need for new technologies that can provide these services quickly and efficiently.To meet this need, INO developed a new system that automatically generates road sign inventories. This system, based on new active imaging technology, automatically detects, recognizes, and localizes road signs, creating accurate road sign surveys with minimal cost or effort.
