Location of ROdio Interference/Electro Magnetic Interference (RI/RFI/EMI) due to corona. Although conductors are designed to minimized corona discharge, non smooth surfaces caused by damage, raindrops,improper installation or contamination may locally enhance the electric field strength sufficiently to induce corona discharge.This maybe audible in certain condtions as a crackling sound,occasionally
accompanied by a low frequency hum or electro magnetic interference (radio interference).
