Halcyonics also offers solutions for vibration isolation of relatively heavy loads: announcing the Halcyonics sandwich isolation platforms and the Halcyonics Duo 73 isolation elements. Typical applications for this equipment include relatively large scanning microscopes (such as SEMs or UHV STMs) and those encountered in production and measurement technologies, where weights ranging from a few hundred kilograms up to approx. 2,500 kg have to be vibration isolated.

Halcyonics sandwich platforms have been specially designed for scanning electron microscopes. This platform is an effective combination of Halcyonics’ active vibration isolation and compact exterior dimensions. Two standard sizes are available; each has been optimized for the load capacity required. Sandwich platforms are used all over the globe, together with various types of equipment from the manufacturers Carl Zeiss, Jeol, Hitachi, Tescan and others.

Halcyonics Duo 73 has been engineered as a modular system to meet the needs of the most diverse applications. Duo 73 systems can be used in conjunction with steel honeycomb-structured table tops, and, using the available adapter plates, can alternatively be installed directly below the frame of many SEMs (e.g., Carl Zeiss Supra). The basic configuration of the Duo 73 consists of two elements; combinations of 3, 4 or more elements can be readily implemented.

A major advantage of the active Duo 73 Systems and sandwich platforms is that they do not generate any natural low-frequency resonance, which is responsible for problems encountered with passive vibration isolation systems in low-frequency ranges below 5 Hz. The active vibration isolation of sandwich platforms starts right at 1 Hz and, above 10 Hz, attains more than 35 dB.
